Monster always close

I hear the scratching on the wall outside again. Good excuse to get out of the hallway and inside.
I force myself to move off their couch. Sit up. Stand up. Walk. Keep the door locked. Close the windows. Tape them shut. Sit. Vacuum the carpet and look for any imprint on the floor I don't recognize. Sit. Let the living room gather dust and look for the marks.
Brandon and Finn screw this up. Don't they know that a monster could show up whenever? Finn says Sam won't show up. Brandon says they'll keep me safe. Can they really know that? They'll just let the monster come in.
I don't think about it too much whenever we're together. I'm just as careless. They're not here now. They let me move the couch to the far corner, as far away from the door as I can get outside of the kitchen. I keep myself close.
I need to sit down.
